Farmer's Name: Mr. Prashant Maroo

Region: Rajnandgaon, Durg, Chhattisgarh

Crop: Chilli

Mode of Irrigation: Drip

I’m Prashant Maroo I belong to Village: Saloni, District: Rajnandgaon. Today I attended an event named ‘Samvaad’ organized by the Fasal team here in Durg, Chhattisgarh. I've been associated with Fasal for the last 3 years and I’ve been actively involved in farming for the last 25 years. I own 45-50 acres of land in which I mainly grow cucurbits & vegetables like brinjal & chili, I’ve installed Fasal’s system in my brinjal & chili crops. Why did I associate myself with Fasal? The reason is when I installed the drip irrigation & mulching setup in my field, I was facing a lot of difficulties in irrigating my crops. Then I came across Fasal's system installed on one of my friend’s farms, and I thought of giving it a try, that’s how I installed Fasal’s system in my field. I started witnessing significant improvements in my irrigation, fertigation & crop health parameters. Especially when I started using the Fasal system’s irrigation advisory, the timely pest & disease-related actionable alerts in my chili plots helped me in increasing the chili crop yield by 20%, subsequently increasing the overall revenue as well. For the last 3 years, I’ve been associated with Fasal and I’ve installed 3 Fasal systems in my field and I’m highly satisfied with its performance. Fasal has an extensive and continuously updated repository of pests & disease models because of which it has correctly predicted the attacks of Powdery Mildew, Downy Mildew & White Fly in my fields which helped me in saving a lot of input costs. Earlier I used to spray once a week but because of the Fasal system’s correct predictions and respective actionable alerts I started spraying once every two weeks and I stopped spraying my fields blindly. It helped me a lot in containing the attack of Powdery Mildew. Fasal has recently launched a very innovative scheme titled ‘Fasal Water Credit Scheme’ wherein they are felicitating the Fasal system’s users who have successfully utilized their irrigation advisory for the best management of their water resources. This provoked me to further analyze my practices in detail and I was able to correct my existing practices to plan out a precise irrigation schedule for my crops because of which I was felicitated by Fasal as a ‘Water Champion’ and I got the benefit of the Fasal’s Water Credit Scheme. This change in irrigation practices resulted in healthy crops which in turn made me happy, and as the saying goes a farmer is happy when his/her crops are happy. In the end, I would like to say that a Fasal Farmer is a Safal Farmer.
